- You can put * in a word, or at its end, to get a rough search result
- You can search by terms e.g. carpenter or party
- The Já search engine understands Icelandic – cases are ignored in searches
- Singular and plural don’t matter when searching
- You can search for more words e.g. enter Anna 110 and the engine will turn up everyone named Anna in postcode area 110
- You can search by more words, e.g. bakery Reykjavík turns up all listed bakeries in Reykjavík
- x means that the owner of the number does not want to be disturbed by people involved in direct marketing
- The order of the words makes no difference – plumber 110 will produce the same results as 110 plumber
- As with all searches, the companies or individuals who have registered the most relevant information will be displayed first, followed by others in alphabetical order
- When you search for people, the results are shown in alphabetical order
- You can narrow the search by entering a postcode, place name or address after a name or search term to get more precise results

  • Jón Pétur Jónsson: Finds everyone named Jón Pétur Jónsson
  • Jón Jónsson 101: Finds everyone named Jón Jónsson living in postcode area 101
